8 things to add to your guest room to make it feel cosy and like a hotel.

Make your spare or guest room feel like a hotel when friends and family come to stay. Here are 8 things you can do to make your guest’s home away from home feel extra comfortable. Balance practicality and style!

No. 1: Bench

A bench is often overlooked when it comes to spare rooms and making them more comfortable. But you need somewhere to place your bag! We don’t want any floordrobes (floor + wardrobes = floordrobe) or have your friend bending over on the floor trying to unpack. Any of these benches below will do the trick. Place at the end of the bed, alongside the wall, or under the window to add somewhere for your guest to unpack and get ready. Not only that, but this will instantly make your room look way more stylish.

No. 2: Armchair

Alternatively, if you don’t have space, an armchair will work just as well as a bench. Your guest can put the bag on the chair and drape some things on the back of it. Also, a chair adds another place for your family member or friend to sit in their room. It’s a good place for you to sit as well if you’re talking in the space. Here are some of my picks tap the image.

No. 3: Clothes Rack

If you want to go the extra mile, you could grab a sleek, slimline clothes rack or rail. This is a great little piece of furniture that gives your guest somewhere to hang their outfits for the time they’re staying over. A lot of people travel and stay with friends and family for special events, so it’s nice to have somewhere small for them to hang up their clothes to iron and have ready for the day or night!

No. 4: Mirror

If your spare room doesn’t have a wardrobe with a mirror, a wall or standing one will do the trick. Somewhere for your guest to get ready. A lot of the time, a bathroom is busy and guests don’t like to get in the way. So they usually like to get ready in their room, and having a mirror close by to do their hair, makeup, and see their outfit is great! here are a few wall and standing mirrors

No. 5: Lamps

Lamp lighting is an instant way to make a room feel more cosy and inviting. Especially in a spare room, they can feel a little all over the place given they usually are multi-functional spaces, so can look out of place. A lamp or two will make it feel way more homey and a nice touch for your guest if they’re reading or just relaxing in the space.

No. 6: Extra Layers

A few more blankets and pillows wouldn’t go astray. Everyone has different sleeping preferences, so having a couple of options is great to have available. Here are a few of my picks.

No. 7: Fragrance

Set the scene and add a touch of scent to your spare room to make it fresh and clean. A reed diffuser is perfect given you don’t have to turn it on and off and it takes a long time to run out, keeping the room fresh for a long time. Alternatively, a room spray will work great too. Spray a little bit thirty minutes before your guest arrives and you’re set!

No. 8: Extra Bits – Chargers, Toothbrushes, and Towels

I find a phone charger, toothbrush, and towels are the things most people are after when they come to stay. Having them in the room and ready to go saves a lot of headaches for any forgotten chargers or toothbrushes.

Feel free to shop any of these options via my LTK. Also, follow along over there as there’s plenty more to see and shop!
