I Said "Brr! it’s cold in here'' - Trendy Coats For Winter - Gals/Guys
Did you finish with ‘Clovers’ or ‘Toros’ with that ‘Bring it on Movie reference’ ?
Comment below along with your favourite trend/coat! 😉
It’s cooling down! So let’s explore some trendy coats. The perfect layering piece that instantly elevates any look from basic, to effortlessly chic right? 👌
Here I’ve got 6 coats for Gals/Guys/Anyone on the hunt for that new coat within the $100-$200 mark. These pieces are doops of what you’ll expect to see elsewhere for waaay more!
Honestly, I find myself half of the time opting to buy women's coats for the fact that they are usually more up-to-date. Atm, everything is so oversized anyway and honestly, I just don’t care haha!
I like how coats/jackets can be the one unusual accent in an outfit. Because, you don’t wear them for that long throughout the day. As once you find a day cold enough, you’re taking them on and off constantly. So I feel like they should have a bit more ‘Oomph!’
Let’s go!

#1 Monki tailored midi coat in rust
Earth tones are still thriving!
I love this more peach take on the classic rust tone that has been so en-vogue since late 2017. A beautiful, relaxed piece that's going to go with anything and everything. Perfect for weekends away, or a elegant work coat. Imagine this draped over your desk chair.. ✨ 👌
#2 Topshop reversible faux shearling trench coat in khaki
Leather is HUGE atm in amongst the fashion world. Late 80’s revival coats. particularly, brown leather trenches. But they’re worth a pretty penny.
I love that this coat has taken a more street style approach to this leather trend by incorporating some borg (shearling.) Very cool-chic vibes. And! it’s reversible. So two coats in one! This forest green is also a colour we are seeing more and more. I reckon this would be the show stopper on the way to work or heading out for drinks with friends. It’s like “I’m cool AND I’ve got my shit together.”
#3 ASOS DESIGN neon check maxi coat
I love this new take on the traditional check coat. It’s subtle enough that it's not too ‘in one week out the other.’ I feel like this will last the test of time tbh. Really beautiful tones too. Nice and light so it’ll suit most outfits. Definitely something to consider if you want a cross over between classic and cool. I’d throw this on for brunch or heading over to friends for a mid-week catch-up. It says “ I understand classic. But, I’m subtly edging it up. I’m a cool mom/girl/guy/gal/person”
#4 FAUX LEATHER TRENCH COAT
So like I was saying earlier, leather is HUUUGE! This honestly reminds me so much of Rachel from Friends. That scene where with something about smoking, or assisting something? Either way she’s standing out the front of a building in the smoker zone and looks so cool!
Some people would consider it a bit matrix. But! I reckon this is one chic street-style look. Some white runners, over-sized straight leg trousers, a tee and this coat opened up is a total mood! Don’t believe me? check out almost any Runway, Pinterest board and insta baddy from the last 2 years haha! and this one is only $139!
#5 & Other Stories belted oversized mac in beige
The classic beige overcoat has definitely been seen around. Some re-appropriation to the sleeves and cut has given this style of coat new life. A more oversized silhouette and bell sleeves.
I like this style above because it’s a more relaxed, everyday take on the classic Mac coat. The issue with these kinds of coats is they can be a bit “I own some stables and wear blue and white check shirts with RM Williams boots.” But! this oversized canvas like coat is more “90s chic model, everything just falls off you luxe vibe.”
I think the thing to keep in mind is that when things are oversized, you look smaller in it. And everything is oversized atm so tailoring isn’t really an issue. So don’t be afraid to get larger pieces.
#6 Topman overcoat in camel
Okay so I had to put in a plain, classic camel coat. This coat I bought a month or so back and I’m obsessed with it. Classic, clean and so soft! Also a really good shade of camel. It's replacing one I bought a few years ago and I prefer this one so much more and it’s only $90!
And that’s it for now!
I hope this has given you some inspo. on some new coats to add to your wardrobe. I feel like a coat is where you can just branch out that little bit more than you would with other items. So have fun with it! Try a trend out or two. whether that be full trend like the leather trench, or a subtle addition like the neon accent.
😊
