My casual WFH Winter Wardrobe - 10 items

_MG_0976.JPG

Working from home doesn’t mean you have to miss out on looking and feeling your best. If anything, atm I’m finding that getting dressed for the day - albeit a bit more comfy than usual, is keeping things fresh and reminding me it’s a new day etc. Which I’m sure, I’m not the only one second guessing the day of the week haha!

So I thought I’d share my work from home wardrobe given winter is fast approaching and most of us are still able to shop online. Keep in mind, I don’t work in corporate business, so this isn’t exactly appropriate for business attire (but seriously, does your wardrobe even change? you’re in a work shirt and trousers no matter what/where you are) Consider these choices something to consider when you’re not at work if you can’t be in casual clothes. Things to keep you feeling fresh and street-worthy from the comfort of your sofa.

Anyway, These items are all from ASOS because it’s easiest to shop a variety of clothing and styles and their returns policy is great!

Lets get started;

Colour Story/Theme

So I like to carry a colour through my wardrobe so then it makes mixing and matching super easy. I hate going to the closet and not knowing what to wear and having to remind myself what goes with what etc. So! to make it easier for myself I stick with a colour palette so everything goes and then play around with shape and textures to keep everything interesting.

I’m an avid beige, brown, cream, and off-white wearer. I have been for maybe the last 4-5 years. I have dabbled in a range of different styles - More preppy, trouser/skivvy vibes through to now which is a more boy-next-door type of look with a mix of denim, overshirts, jackets and even sweats! - can you believe?

I strongly recommend you get on the monochromatic train - which actually means all one colour, not all black or white like its popularly advertised. Achromatic is white, black grey etc.

The reason I recommend a monochromatic wardrobe is like I stated above, it’s easier to create different looks. Also, it generally looks more expensive and thought out. Which whether you care about how much an item is, I like to get the best value out of my product. So I work with what I can afford to get items I think are going to last, look cohesive, wear them a lot and make me appear like I care about what I throw on my back haha!

So enough of that back story, let’s get onto the fit!

Side note - I wish I had affiliate links to make money out of this but I don’t so this is entirely not sponsored haha!

# 1. Oversized funnel neck sweatshirt in beige

Keep cosy, but keep it casual-chic. This sweatshirt is only $40 but its a doop of what you’ll expect to find a similar item for triple, if not 4 times the price. Sure it’s just cotton and the funnel neck may stretch but hey! I’m all for looking casual-chic on a budget whilst working from home. I want to just blend into my sofa as I work away! haha

# 2. Borg over-shirt in brown

Finally! people will know what I mean when I say ‘Borg!’ it’s essentially a faux shearling that’s made itself relevant since the return of the 90’s

It’s the perfect texture to add to your wardrobe! it’s just soft, cosy and you can make it look cute of sophisticated depending on your mood and the occasion.

Okay so whoever said this was ‘brown’ and called it an ‘overshirt.’ Shame on you. This is definitely more of a rust coloured trucker jacket if you ask me. A total trend piece that could have seen you through 2019 all the way to the foreseeable future I think. If you don’t have heating, this will be a cute and cosy number to add amongst your work from home wardrobe.

# 3.Oversized half zip track neck sweatshirt in pink teddy borg

The borg continues!

I don’t usually work with colour but Im feeling this pink. It will work so well up against the beige, creams and browns in amongst these pics. You’ll be pulling a true Neapolitan ice cream throwback moment. Its definitely more on the trend side of things, but! its only $45 so you’re not investing too much in it. So it works out in the end.

# 4.Change sweat in mustard

So I thought the wording was appropriate given our current circumstances. We’re living in amongst a huge change, and we’re waiting for a change to get us back to normal am I right?

I reckon the mustard is another colour that will work effortlessly into a more beige, cream related wardrobe. A few accent colours won’t go astray here and there. And let’s be real, mustard is essentially apart of the beige family anyway. Not to mention a symbolic autumnal colour.

# 5.Abercrombie & Fitch cozy sherpa logo hoodie in tan

Now I don’t know who decided this was ‘Tan’ but they need a good talking to. Either way I’m loving this old-school, tone on tone throwback moment. It gives me Old-American college kind of vibe and I’m here for it. It’s definitely on the pricier side, so I’m going to wait it out and wait for a sale to come round because I don’t think its worth $120, but it was still worth a mention in amongst this wardrobe feature given it’s a sweat that’s still makes you look and feel put together.

# 6.Tracksuit oversized hoodie / relaxed joggers in grey marl SET

Yep you got that right, a sweat SET for $68. I like this one in particular not only for the price, but the colour and the stretchy, elasticated cuffs on both the pant and the sweater.

The scrunchie sleeves and cuffs are that 90’s moment we are seeing everywhere and it’s what we want! the regular flat style sweat cuff is just not cutting it for me. It’s almost like… years ago the scrunchie cuff was your base level stuff, and the flat cuff was more bougie, and now its the complete reverse! so keep up to date, but don’t spend a fortune. This sweat set you can layer up and down whilst working from home. Layer a coat over this with some runners and you have one chic supermarket trip look.

# 7. Skinny joggers in white waffle

So I know I just said - don’t get the flat cuff. However! these joggers make up for it given they have a nice texture. That slight waffle really elevates what could be a simple pair of sweat pants. And for $50 they’re pretty affordable given there’s already pairs of ‘joggers’ that are 3 times the price made from the same material etc. So… win win! these will jazz up that basic tee whilst working at home for sure! They’re a basic, but slightly elevated, thus in turn elevating your entire look.

# 8. Baseball cap in camel soft touch cotton

Okay so I think we have to just start ignoring the person who is writing these descriptions because this is just a 5 panel cap. Not a baseball cap - Whatever!

I’m growing my hair out atm and caps are saving me!

Not to mention they instantly add a little something your outfit. You don’t have to think about doing your hair as well. So for those random zoom or facetime meetings, you instantly look more put together because you don’t need to worry if your hair is right whilst you’re going through that mid-growth phase since you cant get to a hairdressers.

# 9. Sovereign medallion necklace in gold tone

Skinny gold chances are an instant elevator to any basic outfit. They’re just a slight detail that just adds that little something - like you put a little thought into the things you put on. It doesn’t need to pay respect to any religion, or have a symbolic reference. There’s plenty of other affordable gold chains on asos. But I highly recommend adding this to your tee and jogger outfits. Well, make that any outfit because honestly, they are a game changer!

# 10. Adidas Originals Stan Smith sneakers in all white

I know we arn’t wearing shoes inside, but for those runs to the supermarket, I thought I’d throw in these. They are my go-to shoe for everything given they suite pretty much every occasion. They’re completely leather too so they stay white. I also wash mine on a cold wash cycle and take the laces out to wash them too. Honestly, they’re the best white shoe that doesn’t break the bank and won’t get instantly dirty as soon as you take one step outside.

And there you have it! A nice curated selection of fashion picks to effortlessly fit into your current wardrobe. A nice Zhuzh! A little something! you know?

Keep safe, keep healthy and be kind :)

Until next time!
