Let’s get straight down to the good stuff - Christmas Decor

Here are 5 of my go-to themes for getting that cinematic Christmas rom-com vibe!

I wanted to give you some alternative ideas from the regular styles you’ll catch on Pinterest/Blogs everywhere! So go easy and take in the inspo. Here’s inspo from micro-trends all the way through to more familiar, approachable styles.

First things first, Im going with option no. 1 personally.

  1. Chic Brown Moments

Yes, you read that correctly - Brown!

Not ‘farmhouse brown cow.’ - We’re talking brown velvet ribbons and handmade rustic baubles.
Brown has been such a statement amongst the fashion scene this year and it has definite potential for Christmas decor. I consider this theme more aimed at the early adopter of trends. You’ll either get the vibe, or you’ll happily pass which is A-okay!

So maybe this isn’t one for the kids or your aunt Jude. But hey! if you’re with it, hip and keen for a new approach to glam then I highly recommend these brown selects.

TREE; I recommend this style be matched with a full all-green Christmas tree. You can try a frosted style but it’s not going to give the same chocolatey richness effect.

2. Twist-up Traditional - Ralph Lauren Style

So if you’re all about the traditional Christmas styling but want something different to red this year try this style out. I’ve referred back to the expert in the lifestyle cinematic style realm, Ralph Lauren. Their campaigns are always selling the fantasy, right?

So! let’s go for tartan ribbons, I’m thinking blue and green would be a beautiful side-step from red but still feel really Christmassy. Very winter solstice inspired which kind of suits the theme of Christmas given it’s what the majority of the world experiences this time of year.

TREE - Plush Evergreen is where it’s at for this theme. You could get a bit frosty on the tips but I’d avoid the full white snow look as it will take away that old school storybook feel.

3. Woolly Winter land

Amp up the textures and bring out that tonal beige soft and cosy Christmas. You could adopt a more boho minimalist stick type concept tree or opt for the classic style. Either way, I imagine this is the perfect balance between a chic, and kid fun/friendly themed Christmas. Opt for wool, felt and knit ornaments in preferably a natural colourway with pops of colour to keep it fun, but elevated. It will suit a home with white walls and light timber accents, but instead of that go-to timber ornaments, this additional texture will add warmth and dimension.

4. Glitz & Moody

Combine the 80s/90s timeless look and feel with a bit of funk, and a whole lot of chic. I know this will suit a particular kind of style icon. Mix in black, white and emerald and pop the champagne girl! or a whisky if that’s your vibe. It’s moody and vampy but glamourous in a way that’s not the mirror/silver over the top look that is seen around way too often haha!

TREE I’d opt for an evergreen but! this style is one where you could opt for an all frosted moment if your heart desires!

5. Kitsch Colour!

I’m all about jumping in and getting colourful. But make it messy, shaggy and textured! It takes it far away from that real tacky, cheap look. Colourful doesn’t mean ‘no theme or thought.’ Plan, assess and bring in some cohesion to tie it all together. Make it a fun kitsch look with these shaggy, woolly ornaments for that magical colourful Christmas! This is a contemporary cool mum approach which I absolutely love. and I’m sure the kids and bloggers will too!

That’s it for now! I’ll touch base with a few decor tips and tricks later on. And then we’ll get into the gift guides etc. But I hope I have at least inspired you for your Christmas decor style this year! I have my blog post from last year here to check out in case you’re interested in some classic Christmas energy!

let me know below what’s your favourite and what theme (be it one of these or your own) you’ll be running with this year!
